Summary

Kids name times they feel alone (new school, no friends around, left out, bedtime, big emotions).
They learn that even when they feel alone, God is truly present—He promises never to leave or abandon His children.

Verse

Hebrews 13:5b – “God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’”

Motions:
  • “Never will I leave you” – shake head “no,” then point to a friend beside you.
  • “Never will I forsake you” – cross arms in a hug over your chest.

Movement – “Alone / Not Alone”

Create two lines or sides of the room:
  • One labeled “FEEL ALONE”
  • One labeled “GOD IS WITH ME”

Call out situations:
  • “Sitting alone at lunch.”
  • “Trying a new activity where you don’t know anyone.”
  • “Lying in bed and feeling scared.”
  • “On the playground and no one picks you for a game.”

Kids first move to “FEEL ALONE,” then you count 3–2–1 and have them all walk together over to “GOD IS WITH ME” while saying the verse line:
  • “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Lesson – “God Is With Me Even When I Feel Alone”

Name the feeling:
  • Briefly explain: feeling lonely doesn’t mean you’re weak or bad; it’s a feeling many people (even Bible heroes) have.
  • Share in simple terms how Elijah felt alone (1 Kings 19) or another example and how God reminded him of His presence.

God’s promise:
  • Read/paraphrase Hebrews 13:5b.
  • Explain “forsake” in kid language: “God is saying, ‘I will never walk away or forget you.’”
  • Connect to Psalm 139: “The Bible says there is nowhere we can go where God is not with us.”

Feels vs. facts:
  • “My feelings say: ‘I am all alone.’
  • God’s truth says: ‘I am with you always; I will never leave you.’”
  • We can talk to God about our lonely feelings and also hold onto His promise.

Small Groups – “Never Alone Card”

Each child gets a small card with space for:

Front:
  • “When I feel alone, God is with me.”
  • Hebrews 13:5b reference.

Inside/back:
A simple list or pictures:
  • “At school”
  • “On the playground”
  • “At night”
  • “When I’m sad”

Leaders invite kids to:
  • Put a check mark or draw themselves in places they sometimes feel alone.
  • Then write/dictate a short prayer: “Jesus, be with me when I feel alone at ______.”
  • Encourage them to keep this in a Bible, by their bed, or in a backpack.

Game – “Lie / Truth”

Stand = “Truth from God’s Word.”
Sit = “Lie from my feelings.”

Say short statements:
  • “No one cares about me.” → kids sit (Lie).
  • “God will never leave me.” → kids stand (Truth – Hebrews 13:5).
  • “If I’m alone at school, God is far away.” → sit.
  • “Even in the dark, God is with me.” (Psalm 139 idea) → stand.

Each time they stand, repeat:
  • “God is with me; I am never really alone.”

Finish with a calm prayer thanking God that He is with them in every lonely place and asking Him to remind them of His promise when those feelings come.
