Lesson
Sit kids in a circle. Have a flashlight ready and access to the light switch if safe.
a) Dark and light object lesson
Ask kids to close their eyes or briefly dim the lights (only if safe, not too dark for any anxious child).
Say: “Everyone, close your eyes. What do you see? It’s dark. Before God made the world, it was like this—dark and empty.”
Turn on lights or flashlight.
“Then God spoke. God said, ‘Let there be light!’ And right away, there was light. God made the light!”
b) Short lesson paragraphs
Open your Bible to Genesis 1:1–3 and hold it where kids can see.
“The Bible tells us that in the beginning, before there were trees or animals or people, everything was dark. There was no light at all.”
“Then God spoke. God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God made the light so we could see. God saw that the light was good. Our God is so powerful—He just speaks, and things are made!”
d) Key phrase with motions
Teach and repeat: “God made light. Jesus is my light.”

Before you clean up, have kids hold up their papers and say together:
