Week 7 – God Made People (God Made Me)

Lesson

“God made you special. Jesus loves you so much He came to earth for you.”

“Thank You, Jesus, for making me special and loving me.”

Passage

Genesis 1:26–27; Psalm 139:14

Welcome (5–10 minutes)

Set out:
  • Table with mirrors and crayons.
  • “God made me” coloring page (simple boy/girl outline).

As kids arrive, say simple lines:
  • Say: “Look in the mirror. God made you! Today we’ll hear how God made you and loves you.”

Opening Prayer (echo prayer)

Children repeat after you:

“Dear God,
Thank You for loving us.
Thank You for Jesus.
Thank You for the Bible,
Your special book.
Help us listen and obey.
In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Songs (5–10 minutes)

Pick 2–3 songs, repeat them often through the year.

Song 1 - “Jesus Loves Me”
Motions:
  • Point to self on “me.”
  • Hug yourself on “loves.”
  • Hands like a book on “for the Bible tells me so.”

Song 2 - “The B-I-B-L-E”
Kids hold pretend Bible (hands together like a book), then step forward on “I stand alone…”

Optional short chorus
“God Made Me” (simple chant you can create):
“God made me, God made me,
Thank You God for making me.”

Tap head, shoulders, knees, toes as you sing.

Lesson

Set-up:
Sit kids in a semi-circle with a big picture Bible or printed pictures of children from different places.

Short lesson paragraphs:
  • “The Bible tells us that in the beginning, God made the world. He made the light and the dark. He made the sky and the water. He made the animals and the trees. God made everything.”
  • “The Bible also tells us that God made people. God made you! He made your eyes and your nose, your hands and your feet. You are special and important to God.”

Key phrase (repeat with actions):
  • “God made me special. Jesus loves me.”

Actions:
  • Point to self on “me,”
  • Spread arms wide on “special,”
  • Cross arms over chest on “Jesus loves me.”

Say it 4–6 times, maybe whisper/shout, sitting/standing.

Optional video:
  • Show a short preschool video that tells the creation story and that God made people (or a “God made me” song video).

After the video, ask 2–3 questions:
  • “Who made you?” (God!)
  • “Does Jesus love you?” (Yes!)
  • “What did God make on your face?” (Let them name body parts, praise each child.)

Hold an image of a family and smile at the kids.

“The Bible says God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus. Jesus loves you. Jesus came to earth for you because you are special to Him.”

Craft – “God Made Me”

Steps
  • Give each child one person shape.
  • Help them glue on eyes and yarn hair.
  • Let them draw clothes, mouth, and any details.
  • Stick the label at the bottom: “God made me. Jesus loves me.”
  • As they work, say simple phrases:
    • “God made your hair.”
    • “God made your smile.”
    • “Jesus loves you so much.”


Craft talk (short paragraph as they work)
  • “Look at your picture person. This reminds us that God made you. He gave you your hair, your eyes, your smile. You are special to God. Jesus loves you very much.”
Supplies

  • Pre-cut large paper people (boy/girl shapes).
  • Googly eyes or drawn eyes.
  • Small pieces of yarn for hair.
  • Crayons or markers.
  • Glue sticks.
  • Sticker that says: “God made me. Jesus loves me.”

Closing Prayer (echo prayer)

Gather kids in a circle, each holding their little “Bible.”
“Dear Jesus, Thank You for making me. Thank You for loving me. Help me remember that I am special to You.
Amen.”
