Week 13 – Review: God Made Me and the Bible

Lesson

“All our stories are in the Bible, and all the Bible points to Jesus.”

Prayer

“Thank You, Jesus, for being in every story and loving me.”

Passage

Genesis 1

Welcome (5–10 minutes)

Set out:
  • Free play: mix of favorites from earlier weeks—animals, blocks, dolls/people, toy food.
  • Table: review coloring page (simple scene with world, Bible, heart, child) and crayons.

As kids arrive, say simple lines:
  • “Today we will remember what we have learned.”
  • “God made the world. God made you.”
  • “The Bible is God’s book and tells us about Jesus.”

Opening Prayer (echo prayer)

Children repeat after you:

“Dear God,
Thank You for loving us.
Thank You for Jesus.
Thank You for the Bible,
Your special book.
Help us listen and obey.
In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Songs (5–10 minutes)

Pick 2–3 songs, repeat them often through the year.

Song 1 – “The B-I-B-L-E”
Motions:
  • Hold hands like a book on “The B-I-B-L-E”.
  • Hug the “book” on “Yes, that’s the book for me”.
  • Step forward and stomp gently on “I stand alone on the Word of God”.

Song 2 – “Jesus Loves Me”
Motions:
  • point to self on “me,”
  • hug on “loves,”
  • hands like a book on “Bible tells me so.”

Song 3 – “God Made Me, God Loves Me” chant
“God made me (point to self),
God loves me (hug self),
The Bible tells me so (book hands).
Jesus came,
Knows my name,
He’s with me where I go (walk in place).”

Repeat 2–3 times.

Lesson

Sit kids in a circle with a small “review basket” of objects:
  • Leaf or flower (creation).
  • Toy animal.
  • Small mirror or reflective card.
  • Small Bible.
  • Heart shape.

a) Review objects
Hold up the leaf/flower:
  • “We learned that God made the world. God made plants and trees, grass and flowers. God made a beautiful world for us.”
Hold up the toy animal:
  • “We learned that God made animals—big ones, small ones, fast and slow. God made every animal.”
Hold up the mirror:
  • “We learned that God made people. God made you. He made your eyes, your nose, your smile. You are special to God.”
Hold up the Bible:
  • “We learned that the Bible is God’s special book. The Bible helps us, tells us God is good, and tells us about Jesus.”
Hold up the heart:
  • “We learned that God loves us very much. God’s love never stops.”

b) Short summary paragraphs
  • “The Bible tells us that God made everything and said it was good. God made the light, the sky and water, the plants and trees, the sun, moon, and stars, the animals, and people. God made you, and you are very special to Him.”
  • “The Bible also tells us that God is good and that He loves us. The Bible helps us know God, know what is right, and know that we can trust Him. All through the Bible, God is getting us ready to see Jesus, His Son.”

d) Key phrase with motions (review)
Combine key ideas:
  • “God made me. God loves me. The Bible tells me. Jesus loves me.”

Motions:
  • Point to self on “me.”
  • Point up on “God.”
  • Hug self on “loves me.”
  • Book hands on “Bible tells me.”
  • Point up (Jesus) then hug on “Jesus loves me.”

Say the whole phrase several times, then shorten to “God made me; Jesus loves me.”
c) Jesus connection
Hold the Bible close to your heart and look around the circle.

“The most important thing we learned is that the Bible shows us Jesus. God sent Jesus to our world to show us His love. Jesus came, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and came back to life. Jesus loves you, made you, and wants you to be close to Him. When we read the Bible, we are learning to know and follow Jesus.”

Craft – “My God-Made, God-Loved Booklet”

Goal:
  • Small review booklet with 3–4 pages: God made the world, God made me, God loves me, Bible helps me / tells me.

Steps
  • Give each child a folded booklet.
  • Page 1: Help them draw simple world things (sun, tree, animal). Write “God made the world.”
  • Page 2: Have them draw themselves. Write “God made me.”
  • Page 3: Draw a big heart. Write “God loves me.”
  • Page 4: Draw a little Bible. Write “The Bible tells me about Jesus.”
  • Add stickers anywhere if you have them.

Craft talk (short paragraph as they work)
  • “You are making your own little book to remember what we learned. God made the world. God made you. God loves you. The Bible tells you all these things and tells you about Jesus. When you look at your book, you can remember: ‘God made me. God loves me. The Bible tells me. Jesus loves me.’”

  • When finished, invite them to “read” their booklet by pointing at each page while you say:
    • “God made the world.”
    • “God made me.”
    • “God loves me.”
    • “The Bible tells me about Jesus.”

Then together:
  • “God made me. Jesus loves me.”
Supplies

  • 1 sheet of paper per child, folded into a small booklet (2–4 pages).
  • Crayons/markers.
  • Stickers (stars, hearts, animals) if available.
  • Short labels for each page, or you can write for them:
  • Page ideas:
    • “God made the world.”
    • “God made me.”
    • “God loves me.”
    • “The Bible tells me about Jesus.”

Closing Prayer (echo prayer)

Gather kids in a circle, each holding their little “Bible.”
“Dear Jesus, Thank You for making the world. Thank You for making me. Thank You that God is good and loves me.
Thank You for the Bible that tells me about You. Help me remember Your love every day.
Amen.”
