Welcome (5–10 minutes)
Set out:
As kids arrive, say simple lines:
- Free play: dolls/figures as parents and children, simple house setup, toy chores (mini broom, dishes).
- Table: coloring page of a child helping/obeying a parent and crayons.
As kids arrive, say simple lines:
- “Today we will hear that the Bible helps me obey.”
- “Obey means to listen and do what is asked.”
- “The Bible says children should obey their parents in the Lord.”

Opening Prayer (echo prayer)
Children repeat after you:
“Dear God,
Thank You for loving us.
Thank You for Jesus.
Thank You for the Bible,
Your special book.
Help us listen and obey.
In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Sit kids in a circle. Have: a Bible, simple parent/child figures, and a few “scenario” pictures (cleaning up toys, coming when called).

a) What the Bible says

- “The Bible helps us know what is right. One verse says, ‘Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.’ That means God wants children to listen to and obey their parents.”
- “God gave you parents and grown-ups who care for you. When you obey them in good things, you are also obeying God.”
b) What obey means (very simple)
Show a picture of toys on the floor.
- “If your parent says, ‘Please pick up your toys,’ obey means you pick them up. Not later, not with grumpy words, but right away and with a good heart.”
- “When they say, ‘Come here, please,’ obey means you come. The Bible says this is good and makes God happy.”
c) We don’t always obey—and Jesus helps us

- “Sometimes we do not obey. We ignore, say ‘no,’ or fuss. That is called sin. The Bible shows that everyone disobeys sometimes—even grown-ups.”

- “The good news is that Jesus always obeyed His Father perfectly. He never sinned. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and came back to life. When we say ‘I’m sorry’ and trust Him, He forgives us and helps us obey God and our parents.”

Goal:

Steps
Craft talk (short paragraph as they work)
Have children hold up their charts and say:

- Give each child the box-page.
- In each box, help them draw themselves obeying:
- Box 1: walking to a parent.
- Box 2: picking up toys.
- Box 3: getting in bed.
- Write simple phrases under each picture if helpful (Come, Clean up, Bedtime).
- At the bottom, write:
- “The Bible helps me obey. Jesus helps me obey.”

- “You are drawing times when you can obey at home—when someone calls you, when it’s time to clean up, or when it’s bedtime. The Bible tells us that obeying parents is good and pleases God. Jesus forgives us when we disobey and helps us obey. Remember: ‘The Bible helps me obey. Jesus helps me obey.’”
