Lesson

“All year we learned the Bible is about Jesus and His love.”

Prayer

“Thank You, Jesus, for the Bible and for loving me all year.”

Passage

Joshua 1:8

Welcome (5–10 minutes)

Set up simple “story touchpoints” around the room:
  • Creation: toy animals, sun/moon stars.
    • Old Testament: tent/blocks, toy sheep, lions, big fish.
    • Jesus’ birth: nativity set.
    • Jesus’ life: boat, bread/fish, children with Jesus.
    • Cross & empty tomb: simple cross and empty “tomb” box.
    • Church & us: toy church, diverse people figures.
  • Table: one big coloring page or blank sheet where kids can draw their “favorite Bible story” from the year.

As kids arrive, say simple lines:
  • “Today we will remember Bible stories we learned this year.”
  • “All the stories are part of one big story.”
  • “The Bible’s big story is about Jesus.”

Opening Prayer (echo prayer)

Children repeat after you:

“Dear God,
Thank You for loving us.
Thank You for Jesus.
Thank You for the Bible,
Your special book.
Help us listen and obey.
In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Songs (5–10 minutes)

Song 1 – B-I-B-L-E
  • Bible hands, hug the “book,” step on “I stand alone.”

Song 2 – When I Look

Song 3 – Let the children choose a song they like

Lesson

Sit in a circle with a “story basket.” Pull out 6 simple objects to represent major parts of the year and give 1–2 preschool sentences for each.

a) Creation – God made everything
Object: small globe or animal figure.
  • “God made the whole world—sky, water, trees, animals, and people. God made you and loves you.”

Kids repeat: “God made me and loves me.”

b) Old Testament – God cares for His people
Object: tent or sheep.
  • “We heard stories of Abraham, Moses, David, Daniel, Jonah and more. God cared for His people, rescued them, forgave them, and promised to send a Savior.”

Kids repeat: “God keeps His promises.”

c) Jesus is born – God’s promise kept
Object: small baby in a manger.
  • “At Christmas we learned that Jesus, God’s Son, was born in Bethlehem. God kept His promise to send a Savior.”

Kids repeat: “Jesus is God’s Son.”

d) Jesus’ life – Jesus loves, helps, and teaches
Object: tiny loaf/fish or boat or children with Jesus.
  • “We heard how Jesus calmed storms, fed hungry people, loved children, and called friends to follow Him. Jesus showed us what God is like.”

Kids repeat: “Jesus shows me God’s love.”

e) Cross and empty tomb – Jesus saves us
Object: cross and empty “tomb.”
  • “We learned that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again. The tomb is empty. Jesus is alive forever.”

Kids repeat: “Jesus died and rose again.”

f) Church and us – we follow Jesus
Object: little church and people.
  • “After Jesus went back to heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit. The first church shared, prayed, and told others about Jesus. Today we are part of God’s family too. We can love, share, pray, and tell others about Jesus.”

Kids repeat: “I can follow Jesus.”

g) Big idea line
All together:
  • “The Bible is one big story about Jesus and God’s love.”

Motions:
Open-book hands on “Bible,” make big circle for “one big story,” arms wide for “God’s love.”

Craft – “My Bible Year Booklet”

Goal:
A simple 4-page booklet where each page is one “big step” of the story, child-drawn.

Sections
  1. Angel & Mary
  2. Stable & manger (Holy Family)
  3. Shepherds & angels
  4. Wise men & star

Steps
  • Give each child a booklet.
  • Page 1: draw something from creation (sun, animals, people).
  • Page 2: draw baby Jesus in a manger.
  • Page 3: draw a cross and an empty tomb (simple cave with stone rolled away).
  • Page 4: draw themselves with Jesus, or at church, or doing something like  praying/sharing.

On the back, write:

  • “The Bible is one big story about Jesus and God’s love.”

Craft talk:
  • “You are making a little book to remember our Bible year. God made everything. Jesus was born. Jesus died and rose again to save us. Now we can follow Jesus every day. When you read your book, remember: ‘The Bible is one big story about Jesus and God’s love.’”

If there’s time, let kids “read” their booklet to you or a neighbor using the headings.

Supplies

  • One sheet folded into 4 pages (or staple 2 sheets).
  • Crayons/markers.
  • Simple headings (you or helpers write):
    • Page 1: “God made everything.”
    • Page 2: “Jesus is born.”
    • Page 3: “Jesus saves us.”
    • Page 4: “I can follow Jesus.”

Closing Prayer (echo prayer)

Gather kids in a circle, each holding their little “Bible.”
Thank You for all the Bible stories we learned this year. Thank You for making us, for coming to earth, for dying and rising again, and for being with us now.
Help us love You and follow You every day.
Amen.”
